How to determine the appropriate closure solution for the application?
How is medical wire defined as a component?
The wires used in the production of masks, medical covers and liquid collection bags assume different functions. The mask nose wire is evaluated for the closure and shape protection task in the design of a medical double-wire clip, cover or bag, while helping to shape the relevant area. Next to the product name, it should be indicated where and how the component will be used in the final design.
Choice; It starts by describing the material, coating, cross-section, length and feeding method to the production line. The shaping behavior or line harmony of two products that are similar in appearance should not be considered the same. The sample and the technical drawing embody this distinction.
Wire selection for mask production
Single strand mask wire, aluminum options and dust mask nose clips are different product families. The wire channel of the design, the placement method and the desired shaping behavior are decisive in the selection. Width, thickness and length should be given as separate measurements; A definition of just “mask wire size” is not sufficient.
If roll product will be used, share the feeding and cutting conditions accepted by the line. The size, tip shape and placement method for the cut product should be described. Providing measurements or drawings in addition to a photo of the existing sample allows for a more accurate understanding of the difference between products.
Medical drape and collection bags
Medical cover and medical double wire clipis evaluated together with the surface to be applied and the connection method. Specify which area the clip shapes, how it is attached to the cover or bag, and how the ends are positioned after cutting. Do not match products based on roll size alone.
The combination of the component with the surface should be examined as well as the forming and shaping behavior of the sample. If there is an expectation of liquid retention or sealing in the final design, this performance is evaluated by your company’s testing method on the entire product.
Fields that should be included in the technical specification
| area | Information to be disclosed | Why is it necessary? |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Mask, covering or bag; location of the wire | Defines the function of the component |
| structure | Number of wires, material and coating | Separates similar looking products |
| Size | Width, thickness, length and required tolerances | Compares drawing and sample |
| feed | Roll or cut form; line/model information | Defines the production phase |
| Evaluation | Acceptance criteria and control method to be applied | Converts the sample result to a record |
| document | Name of the requested document, its scope and the relevant product | Concretizes the general document request |
Do not accept tolerances as a universal number. The requirements of the final design and production line are the basis for technical evaluation. Clearly defining the desired features facilitates comparison between the sample and the ordered product.
Component selection is not final product approval
The use of a wire in the production of masks or medical covers does not mean that it provides a certificate of protection class, filtration, sterility or conformity for the completed product. The component and the final product have different evaluation scopes. The usage areas indicated on the product page are the starting point for technical selection.
Transition from sample to order
Keep the approved drawing and sample along with the product code or revision information. When material, size, joining method or line changes, re-evaluate whether the previous result is sufficient for the new conditions. Specify the requested traceability and packaging information prior to ordering.
Mask wire specification guide and medical cover wire selection guideprovides separate checkpoints for these two applications.
Technical selection criteria
| product design | Share the drawing and usage area of the mask, medical cover or bag application. |
|---|---|
| Material & size | Define wire structure, coating, width, thickness and length individually. |
| Feeding & testing | Specify line feed; Verify final product suitability in your own application. |
